CalculatorCarInsurance.com helps you estimate what car insurance might cost and request real quotes. This policy tells you what we collect, why, who gets it, and how to control it. We don't operate under a separate registered company name, so "we" and "us" mean CalculatorCarInsurance.com.

Selling your information

If you submit our quote request form, we sell the information in it to car insurance providers, agents, brokers and companies that match drivers with insurers. That's how you receive quotes, and it's how this site is paid for. You can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information at any time using our contact form.

What we collect

Every visitor. Standard server logs (IP address, browser, device, the page and time) and Google Analytics 4 data. GA4 sets cookies and processes your IP address and the pages you view so we can see traffic totals and an approximate location. We only use it to measure how the site is used.

Quote request. Name; email; phone; street address, city, state and ZIP; date of birth; gender; marital status; military service in your family; education level; your own estimate of your credit score (we don't check your credit); home ownership; year, make, model and ownership of up to two vehicles; the coverage level you want; your current insurer and how long you've had cover; licence status; and whether you need an SR-22.

Consent record. The consent statement you agreed to, the time, your IP address, your browser, the page address and whether a Global Privacy Control preference was switched on in your browser. TrustedForm, provided by ActiveProspect, records the quote page and your form interactions to produce a certificate proving your consent.

Messages and privacy requests. Whatever you enter on our contact form, plus the IP address and browser used. Messages are emailed to us and a copy is kept on our servers.

Why we use it

To send your quote request to car insurance companies so they can quote you; to keep proof of your consent; to block spam and misuse; to measure and improve the site; and to deal with privacy requests and legal obligations.

Who we give it to

Companies that buy quote requests: car insurance providers, agents, brokers, and companies that match drivers with insurers. They receive your quote request and consent record, may contact you as you agreed, and follow their own privacy policies. We only sell to businesses in car insurance.

Service providers: our hosting company, our email provider, Google Analytics, and ActiveProspect (TrustedForm).

Authorities: when legally required, or to protect our rights.

We don't sell the data collected from simply browsing the site or using the calculator pages.

Cookies

The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics. You can block or delete them in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out add-on. The TrustedForm script runs on the quote page only.

Global Privacy Control

We honor Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends the signal, we treat it as your request to opt out of the sale and sharing of personal information collected from that browser. A quote request submitted with GPC on won't be sold, so it can't be passed to insurers for quotes.

Your rights

If you live in California or another state with a consumer privacy law, you have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information; to know what we've collected, where from, why, and which categories of companies received it; to delete it; to correct it; and to appeal our decision on a request. We won't discriminate against you for using any of these rights. California residents may also ask once a year what personal information we shared with other businesses for their own direct marketing.

How requests work. Use our contact form and choose the request you want to make. Opt-outs need no verification and take effect within 10 business days. For access, deletion or correction we check your identity by matching your details with our records and may email you. We acknowledge requests within 10 business days and respond within 45 days, with up to 45 more days if we tell you why. You may use an authorized agent with your signed permission. If we delete your information, we let the companies we sold it to know.

Stopping calls and texts

Reply STOP to texts, tell callers to stop, or send a "Stop contacting me" request from our contact form. We'll stop our own contact and stop sending your details on within 10 business days. Companies that already received your request keep their own do-not-contact lists, so let them know as well.

Notice at collection for California residents

• Identifiers — name, email, phone, IP address (sold, apart from browsing IP data)
• Customer records — street address and city (sold)
• Protected classification characteristics — age, gender, marital status, family military service (sold)
• Commercial information — vehicles, insurance history, coverage wanted (sold)
• Education information — education level (sold)
• Internet or network activity — logs, analytics, TrustedForm recording (service providers; TrustedForm certificate provided to buyers)
• Approximate geolocation — ZIP code and IP-based location (ZIP code sold)

We get this information from you, from your device, and via Google Analytics and TrustedForm. We don't gather anything California classes as sensitive personal information, and we don't pay or reward anyone for their data.

Retention

We keep quote requests and consent records for up to 5 years, to be able to prove consent. Privacy requests are kept for 24 months. Google Analytics keeps data for no more than 14 months. Server logs are kept briefly for security.

Security

We use encrypted connections and store quote requests on private, access-controlled servers. No system is perfectly secure.

Children

This site is meant for adults. You have to be 18 or older to request a quote, and we don't knowingly collect or sell information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page with a new "last updated" date.
